What does link tracking track?

It counts taps on the button links in your DMs, as one total for your account. It's on by default.

Last updated

Link tracking counts how many times people tap the button links in your automated DMs. It's on by default, and the count is one total for your whole account.

How it works

With tracking on, the button in your DM points to a short Waveloop page first. When someone taps it, Waveloop counts the tap, shows that page for about 3 seconds, then opens your real link.

What you see

Your Home dashboard shows a Click-through rate: button taps divided by DMs sent. There's no separate click report for each automation or each person. The count is a tally of taps for the account as a whole, and it doesn't record who tapped.

Want numbers for each link?

Add UTM tags to each link you send, then read the results in your own website analytics. The free UTM link builder makes the tagged link for you.

Turn it off for one automation

  1. Open a comment automation.
  2. Under Optional, find Track link clicks.
  3. Switch it off.

With tracking off, the button opens your raw link directly, and taps on it aren't counted. The switch is on comment automations only. DM keyword and story reply automations use the tracked link.

Link in Bio has its own stats

Your Link in Bio page counts separately. Its editor shows page views, total clicks and click rate. See What is Link in Bio?
