Yes. Any automation can send a DM with a clickable link button, on every plan, including Free. Each DM carries one button, and it opens your link with one tap.
Add a button
- Open the automation and go to the message step.
- Write your message text.
- Under the button section, add a Button label, like "Get the guide", and the Button URL.
- Save the message.
Message text can be up to 1,000 characters.
Text or card
- Text message: your text, plus an optional button. Every plan.
- Card with image: an image, a title, a subtitle and an optional button. Every plan.
Put the link in the button
You can paste a link into the message text, but Instagram may block a DM with a link in its text if your account has been flagged for spam. The Button URL field is the reliable place for links. The comment automation builder warns you when it spots a link in your text without a button.
When Instagram refuses a button
On some accounts, Instagram won't deliver a button or card in the first message to someone who has never messaged you. When that happens, Waveloop sends your message as plain text with the link pasted in, so the person still gets it. If the automation asks for a follow first, the plain text invites them to reply, and their reply continues the flow.
Link clicks are counted
Link tracking is on by default, so taps on your button are counted. To send your raw link instead, switch off Track link clicks on that comment automation. See What does link tracking track?
